Our Mission
The mission of the Arrowhead Native Plant Explorers is to appreciate and promote native plants and plant communities through shared field exploration, community education, and advocacy.
Arrowhead Region
The “Arrowhead” location in our group name refers to the northeastern region of Minnesota, encompassing Carlton, Cook, Lake, and Saint Louis counties. While many of our members are based in the Arrowhead region, our membership and programs are open to all, including those residing outside of the Arrowhead region. We are primarily interested in exploring and promoting the plants and ecosystems of the Minnesota Arrowhead region, Wisconsin South Shore and adjacent areas.
Land Acknowledgement Statement
Arrowhead Native Plant Explorers recognizes that the lands we explore have long been home to Native Peoples and are the sovereign homeland of the Lake Superior Ojibwe. We seek to learn from scientific research as well as centuries of traditional environmental knowledge while we become acquainted with the native plant beings who also call these lands home. We promote good stewardship of natural plant communities for today and for generations to come.
