Our Mission
The mission of the Arrowhead Native Plant Explorers is to appreciate and promote native plants and plant communities through shared field exploration, community education, and advocacy.
Arrowhead Region
The “Arrowhead” location in our group name refers to the northeastern region of Minnesota, encompassing Carlton, Cook, Lake, and Saint Louis counties. While many of our members are based in the Arrowhead region, our membership and programs are open to all, including those residing outside of the Arrowhead region. We are primarily interested in exploring and promoting the plants and ecosystems of the Minnesota Arrowhead region, Wisconsin South Shore and adjacent areas.
Land Acknowledgement Statement
We acknowledge the Arrowhead region is the traditional, ancestral, and contemporary lands of the Anishinaabe and before them the Dakota, Northern Cheyenne, and other Native peoples. This land was ceded by the Ojibwe in the Treaties of 1842 and 1854. It holds great significance for Native nations and people here. We recognize the sovereignty of the Native nations in this region and we thank them for sharing their home with us today.
