Minnesota Bumble Bee Atlas, is a statewide community science project actively tracking and conserving our native bumble bees. Anyone is welcome to join the Atlas—no experience is needed. Come work alongside researchers to help fill knowledge gaps about our native bumble bees!
At this field training, an Atlas staff coordinator will teach the basics of surveying at Hartley Nature Center. This event will be a great way to learn how to use an insect net, collect data according to project methods, identify local bumble bees, connect with fellow volunteers, and get questions answered! Registration required. Limited to 20

Add to our knowledge of Minnesota’s Lichens! The Minnesota Lichen Map is a citizen-scientist project that is open to all participants who love lichens. It is curated by Minnesota Master Naturalists to indicate distribution of lichens in urban and open areas of Minnesota, bring awareness to lichens and eventually create a series of ‘Lichen Trails’ for the citizens of Minnesota.

Join the Zooniverse: Mapping Change Project! Transcribe data from hand-written museum specimen labels to map biodiversity in Minnesota. The data you transcribe will become part of the Minnesota Biodiversity Atlas, the permanent digital record of the Bell Museum of Natural History’s collections.
